Chapter 21

A single “Uncle Fu” shattered Fu Chaoyun’s heart completely. His little one finally acknowledged him and forgave him. Fu Chaoyun hugged the boy tightly, letting him wipe his tears on his expensive clothes without feeling any heartache. The only one who could make his heart ache was the boy in his arms.

Chi Nan felt very undignified, throwing himself into Uncle Fu’s arms like this, but he didn’t care. The person in front of him was Fu Chaoyun, and different from the Uncle Fu who compensated him before. Fu Chaoyun was destined to stand before the public, but Uncle Fu was his alone.

“Uncle Fu, I think my tears smudged your clothes.”

Chi Nan retreated from Fu Chaoyun’s embrace and glanced at Fu Chaoyun’s clothes, where there was a clear mark.

“It’s okay, this is Uncle Fu’s special privilege for his little one.”

Fu Chaoyun said with a smile to Chi Nan, who was already embarrassed, and became even more so afterward.

“Hurry up and go up, I’ll take you to the amusement park tomorrow.”

    “Okay.”

Chi Nan trotted back, and then realizing that his contact with Uncle Fu was still only through the app, he wanted Uncle Fu’s phone number, wondering if he could ask for it. He ran back to Uncle Fu’s side again.

“Uncle Fu, can I have your phone number?”

Chi Nan asked a little cautiously, unsure if he could, since contact information of big stars like Fu Chaoyun was very precious, and usually only friends could get it.

“Of course, it was inconsiderate of me.”

Fu Chaoyun was delighted to hear that, and then exchanged contact information with Chi Nan, also adding Chi Nan’s WeChat, but he didn’t approve it at that moment. Because it was getting late, Fu Chaoyun had to drive back to Huai Hai Apartments. He went back directly after watching Chi Nan go upstairs. After returning to Huai Hai Apartments and taking a shower, he finally took out his phone.

Chi Nan had approved his friend request early on, but the two hadn’t spoken. Fu Chaoyun originally wanted to send Chi Nan a message, but then he called directly.

Chi Nan was flustered when he received Uncle Fu’s call. He was browsing Uncle Fu’s Moments at the time. Uncle Fu’s Moments had very little content, but there was a photo of his back view that was very attractive. He was wearing a black suit, looking down and adjusting his cuffs. It was really good-looking, with a sense of voyeurism. So, when Uncle Fu’s call came in, Chi Nan felt like his little secret had been discovered.

    “Hello, Uncle Fu.”

    Chi Nan answered the phone.

    “What are you doing?”

    “Getting ready to sleep.”

Chi Nan cleared his throat, feeling a little embarrassed.

“Then go to bed early. What time should I pick you up tomorrow?”

Chi Nan glanced at the time. He didn’t have class tomorrow, so any time would work. He gave a more moderate time.

“How about ten o’clock? I’ll wait for you at the gate.”

    “Okay, sleep early.”

    “You too, Uncle Fu.”

The two hung up the phone. Uncle Fu asked him if he liked the Children’s Day gift. Chi Nan glanced at the bag that he had placed on the table. He hadn’t had time to open it yet. He had been spacing out since returning from the dorm, unable to concentrate on anything, so he simply lay on the bed and browsed Uncle Fu’s Moments. Now that Uncle Fu mentioned it, he finally looked at the gift.

Chi Nan opened the package. Inside was a box of chocolates and a letter. Chi Nan didn’t open the chocolates first, but instead unpacked the letter.

“Dear little one, by the time you open this letter, the chocolates should have already arrived in your hands. You also know my identity now. I hope you weren’t surprised. I heard you were working on the centennial celebration gift these past few days. You did a great job. The little one who completes tasks gets a reward. This box of chocolates is Uncle Fu’s reward for Chi Nan.”

Chi Nan looked at the letter and couldn’t help but laugh. He really treated him like a child, just like when he got a perfect score as a child and wanted a toy car. But now he was too old to get a perfect score, so Uncle Fu rewarded him in another way.

Chi Nan carefully folded the letter, put it in the drawer, and ate a chocolate. It was very delicious, and sweet.

Chi Nan thought that Uncle Fu had given him a gift, and he also wanted to give Uncle Fu a gift. Even if he went to the mall now, it would definitely be too late. Besides, Uncle Fu definitely didn’t lack anything. He really didn’t know what Uncle Fu liked, or what he should give.

Chi Nan was a little troubled, so he went online to check what Fu Chaoyun liked, and the search results immediately showed Fu Chaoyun’s personal Weibo. Chi Nan followed him with his alternate account and then browsed through it.

“He doesn’t seem to lack anything.”

Chi Nan looked for more than half an hour and also browsed the fan groups for a long time. Uncle Fu really didn’t lack anything. Chi Nan was troubled, so what should he give Uncle Fu?

After racking his brains for a long time, Chi Nan couldn’t think of anything. It was still in the fan group that he saw fans saying they wanted to commission a piece of art for Fu Chaoyun. Chi Nan suddenly perked up. Commissioning art was what he was good at. He was a painting major himself, so he could paint a picture for Uncle Fu.

Chi Nan was ecstatic. He glanced at Fu Chaoyun’s profile picture, which was simple to the extreme, just a back view. He wondered if a Q-version avatar or an anime one would be better for someone like Uncle Fu. Chi Nan started researching again, and it was almost twelve o’clock. He had an idea, but hadn’t started working on it yet. He really couldn’t stay up any later, or he wouldn’t be able to get up tomorrow.

Chi Nan got up around eight o’clock the next morning, changed his clothes, and saw panic in his roommate Zhang Fang’s eyes because he changed several outfits, still unsure of what to wear.

“Nan Nan, this one looks really good. Are you going on a date or something? This is the eighth outfit.”

Zhang Fang’s hair was as messy as a chicken coop. He hadn’t fully woken up from bed and was watching Chi Nan change clothes.

    “Is this one okay?”

“Yes, it’s great. If I were a girl, I would definitely like you.”

Zhang Fang lay on the bed and gave Chi Nan a thumbs up. Chi Nan looked at his reflection in the mirror and decided that this was it. After all, if he delayed any longer, Uncle Fu would be waiting for him.

Chi Nan grabbed his phone and went out. Fu Chaoyun was already waiting for Chi Nan at the school gate. The moment Chi Nan appeared, Fu Chaoyun noticed him, and then smiled at the boy.

The little one was dressed very brightly today, and his smile was even brighter, making him feel very comfortable.

Chi Nan also saw Uncle Fu standing nearby, wearing a mask and dressed casually, not in the suit and trousers from yesterday, but in casual pants, looking a bit younger. Although Uncle Fu wasn’t very old, the two of them were wearing white short sleeves, which looked a bit like couple outfits.

    “Have you had breakfast?”

    “Not yet.”

Fu Chaoyun asked Chi Nan, and Chi Nan shook his head. Then, as if by magic, Fu Chaoyun took out a bag of breakfast from behind and handed it to Chi Nan.
