    Chapter 96: New Year’s Eve

Su Shi laid down, his face against Chi Ye’s chest, listening to the other’s strong heartbeat, silently counting the days in his heart.

    “What if I miss you?”

Chi Ye hugged him tighter, “Then I’ll secretly fly back to see you, and then go back.”

    “That’s too much trouble.”

“No trouble at all, for you, it’s no trouble.”

Su Shi looked up at Chi Ye, “Does it snow every year where you are?”

    “Do you like snow?”

West Hangzhou has long summers and short winters, with little temperature fluctuation. Forget heavy snowfall; even small snowflakes are rare.

Things are valued for their scarcity. Su Shi had always longed for heavy snowfall and nodded, “It never snows in West Hangzhou.”

Chi Ye touched Su Shi’s face, “When I’ve taken care of things at home, I’ll take you to see the snow.”

Su Shi hugged Chi Ye’s waist even tighter, his reluctance growing stronger with each passing day, “It’s a deal.”

The good days passed too quickly, and the end of the year was fast approaching.

Su Shi didn’t have the habit of celebrating Western holidays, but on Christmas Day, Chi Ye still gave him a gift: a necklace that matched his usual style.

Soon, it was New Year’s Eve. The roadsides were decorated with lanterns and colored hangings, and the trees were hung with red lanterns and auspicious knots, radiating a festive atmosphere everywhere.

In West Hangzhou’s central square stood a tall and majestic clock tower. Every New Year’s Eve, many people gathered here to celebrate the New Year, and this year was no exception.

In the past, Su Shi had never participated in such large-scale New Year’s Eve events, but this year was different.

Su Shi stood at the edge of the square, waiting for Chi Ye, feeling for the gift he had prepared for Chi Ye in his pocket.

Chi Ye wasn’t late; Su Shi was just too early.

Most of those who came to celebrate the New Year were young people, many of them in couples.

Su Shi didn’t send a message to urge Chi Ye to hurry up, just waited like that, and every minute and every second of waiting didn’t feel dull, but rather sweet.

When Chi Ye appeared behind Su Shi, it was as if Su Shi had eyes in the back of his head, and he immediately turned around, “You’re here.”

Chi Ye helped Su Shi smooth the hair that had been ruffled by the wind, “Did you wait long?”

“Not long, look, it’s so lively.”

It was only ten o’clock in the evening, two hours before the clock struck, but the area around the clock tower was already teeming with people.

Compared to the liveliness, Chi Ye actually preferred spending time alone with Su Shi.

Even if it was just being together quietly, doing nothing.

But Su Shi liked it, so he would accompany Su Shi to celebrate a New Year’s Eve with a sense of ritual.

There were many small stalls in the square, selling sugar figurines, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted chestnuts, children’s toys, and all kinds of drinks and mineral water, it was quite lively.

To pass the time, Su Shi and Chi Ye strolled around the square, holding hands openly.

Chi Ye had never had such an experience. In the past, he had only thought that New Year’s Eve was a meaningless thing.

Now, walking hand in hand with Su Shi like this, Chi Ye felt it was very interesting.

A little boy holding a sugar figurine ran towards them, followed by a little girl. Chi Ye pulled Su Shi to the inside, “Watch out, don’t get bumped.”

However, even changing positions didn’t avoid it. The little boy bumped into Su Shi’s leg, and the sugar figurine shattered, sticking to Su Shi’s pants.

An adult hurriedly came over to help the little boy up, apologized to Su Shi, and then walked away with the little boy in his arms.

Su Shi lowered his head, looking at his perfectly good pants smeared with sticky sugar, and couldn’t help frowning.

Before he could speak, Chi Ye had already crouched down, holding a wet wipe to clean it up.

Chi Ye’s habit of carrying wet wipes was really great!

Su Shi couldn’t help but think of when Su Qing was as old as that little boy, and said to Chi Ye, “Su Qing loved eating sugar figurines when she was little.”

Chi Ye finished cleaning up, stood up, threw the wet wipe into the trash can next to him, and asked Su Shi, “Do you like them?”

Su Shi shook his head, “I don’t like them.”

“Su Qing’s teeth rotted because she ate too much sugar. When we didn’t let her eat it, she would secretly eat it; she was so mischievous.”

Chi Ye listened silently, occasionally asking a question about Su Shi’s childhood.

Su Shi glossed over his own childhood, mostly talking about Su Qing.

Just like that, the time quickly passed, and soon it was the most important moment of the night.

Su Shi and Chi Ye mingled with the crowd. As everyone began counting down in unison, at the first stroke of midnight, Su Shi turned his head and quickly kissed Chi Ye on the lips.

The speed was so fast that Chi Ye didn’t have time to savor it.

It’s only polite to reciprocate. Chi Ye also kissed Su Shi on the lips, but unlike Su Shi, he didn’t leave quickly, but kept pressing against Su Shi’s lips.

There were so many people here, Su Shi should have pushed Chi Ye away immediately, but he didn’t want to; his eyes simply couldn’t leave Chi Ye.

The two seemed to be completely isolated from their surroundings, forming a small, undisturbed world.

Neither of them closed their eyes, just staring at each other like that.

Then, Chi Ye released Su Shi and whispered in his ear, “Happy New Year, I love you.”

It was very lively around them, and Chi Ye’s voice was very low, but Su Shi felt it was deafening. “Happy New Year, I love you too.”

Then, Su Shi put a cold object on Chi Ye’s ring finger.

Chi Ye subconsciously looked down and saw a familiar ring.

Then, Su Shi’s hand came up, and both equally beautiful hands wore the same rings.

Platinum shone brightly in the night, and diamonds emitted a dazzling light.

Chi Ye’s eyes grew hot, and he understood, “When did you buy this?”

It seemed that Chi Ye liked this New Year’s gift very much, and Su Shi was quite proud.

After the clock struck, the crowd began to disperse, and they no longer had to speak close to each other’s ears.

    “Do you like it?”

Chi Ye nodded several times, “I like it.”

It was obvious that Chi Ye was a little excited, and Su Shi wanted to make him even more excited.

“Although I started later than you, my feelings for you are definitely no less than your feelings for me.”

    “I believe you.”

Su Shi took Chi Ye’s hand and walked outside, his tone relaxed, “Mr. Chi, you’re so young, yet you’ve already been tied down by me. Will you regret not experiencing the outside world properly in the future?”

Chi Ye said without hesitation, “No, you are the best.”

When Su Shi received the ring he had custom-made for Chi Ye from Song Qingyan, he was teased by Song Qingyan again.

Song Qingyan said, “This second love is really different, you’re experienced, and the speed is so fast.”

Su Shi finally believed the saying that not all relationships are the same.

“Is there any way we can spend the night together tonight? Every time we finish, you leave. I feel like we’re just in a business relationship.”

Ignoring Su Shi’s joke, Chi Ye said, “Yes, I’ve already made preparations.”

This was the first New Year’s Eve they spent together, such a meaningful moment, and of course Chi Ye wanted to witness it together with Su Shi.
